SUMMARY:Cleveland Orchestra Community Concert Preview
DESCRIPTION:Thursday April 19 @ 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM\nCome to the Gates Mills Branch Library to preview the upcoming Cleveland Orchestra concert.  The preview will focus on the upcoming concert to be conducted by Lionel Bringuier with Alisa Weilerstein\, a rising star from Cleveland who will play Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 on May 10\, 11\, 12\, 13. The concert also includes two suites from fairy-tale ballets – Stravinsky’s The Firebird (about a prince who brings maidens turned to stone by an evil magician back to life) and Roussel’s The Spider’s Feast (about garden insects\, caught in a spider’s web\, who are saved from death).\n\nThe presentation\, geared to both new and experienced music lovers\, will include background on the composers and compositions\, plus guided listening to musical excerpts.  Learn about the concert with other music lovers in an informal setting!  \nThis University Circle in the Valley cultural program is sponsored by the Friends of the Gates Mills Library.  A 15% discount coupon for lunch will be provided to all participants\, compliments of Sara's Place.  Registration is required for this free event – seating is limited (440-423-4808).
