Upon graduation\, he moved back to Cuyahoga County and worked as a public defender.\n\n \n\nIn November 2012\, Dave was elected to the 113th Congress to represent the 14th district of Ohio. Dave is one of only two freshman Members serving on the influential House Committee on Appropriations\, where he makes it a priority to reduce the scope and size of government and protect American tax dollars. In 2013\, he voted to put Washington on a budget for the first time in five years. He introduced the SAVE Act\, which would cut $200 billion in government waste and duplicative programs\, and continues to lead bipartisan efforts to protect the Great Lakes. Keeping with a tradition he established while serving as Geauga County Prosecutor\, Dave returned more than $100\,000 from his Congressional budget to the U.S. Treasury in 2013.
