SUMMARY:Your HomeTown Chagrin Falls Historic Home & Garden Tour 2016
DESCRIPTION:Your HomeTown Chagrin Falls is proud to present the Chagrin Falls Historic Home and Garden Tour. The Walking Tour will take place on Friday\, June 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturday\, June 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Featured are five select historic homes and one garden along with Grove Hill\, all located on the north side within walking distance of downtown Chagrin Falls and including some of the oldest homes and landmarks in the Village. There are two tour homes on Summit Street\, two tour homes on East Orange Street and one second floor apartment home on North Main Street which together with Grove Hill highlight the range of historic structures\, architecture and lifestyle of the Village of Chagrin Falls. \n\n \n\n Earlier homes on the tour include a ca. 1843 Upright and Wing frame home of prominent village mill owner Aaron Bliss\, located close to town on East Orange Street. The former site of Windsor Hospital on Summit Street is the location of the recently restored Greek Revival Sears-Adams House where Adams Paper Mill and Bag Factory owner Alfred Adams lived. Also included is the First Congregational Church of Chagrin Falls located on East Orange Street\, which was originally constructed in ca.1844 and later remodeled in the Queen Anne style. Located in the downtown commercial center of Chagrin Falls at the Main Street bridge and listed on the National Register of Historic Places is the brick Italianate Phoenix Block built in ca. 1868\, which was so named after a fire destroyed a previous frame commercial block at the same location. It now houses a refurbished second floor apartment overlooking downtown Chagrin Falls which is featured on the tour. Also included is an 1895 Cross-Gabeled home originally located on larger acreage representing the farming tradition of the area. Finally\, Grove Hill is included on the tour as an important Chagrin Falls landmark\, beginning in the early days of the Village as a precipitous narrow dirt path leading into the town center from the north\, with a later Works Progress Administration retaining wall. \n\n \n\nSpend the day and experience the ambiance and style of these homes which are part of the important architectural heritage of the Village. There will be van transportation provided in the Village by The Cleveland Clinic\, Hamlet Retirement Community and South Franklin Circle for those who need assistance. The Women?s Committee of the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre is serving its Famous Salad Luncheon Buffet on Friday\, May 29 at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre\, 40 River Street between 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Enjoy salads\, desserts and beverages\, all for $15.
