Cleveland Opera Theater’s Opera 101 program will set the stage for an active opera viewing experience. COT’s teaching artists will lead an interactive workshop on operatic themes, concepts, conventions and plots. Seasoned opera goers and newcomers alike are welcome to participate.
Following the Opera 101 workshop, Cleveland Opera Theater’s professional singers will perform excerpts from their upcoming production of André Previn’s A Streetcar Named Desire. Closely following the play by Tennessee Williams, Previn’s opera features a jazz-inflected score that powerfully evokes the New Orleans setting of the play. Additionally, audiences can expect to hear selections from other notable works by American and European composers. Sponosred by the Friends of the Orange Branch Library
