Join us at the Gates Mills Branch Library as we discuss *Mudbound* by Hillary Jordan. This winner of the 2006 Bellwether Prize for literature of social responsibility takes place in the Mississippi Delta just after World War 11. Laura McAllan, a college-educated Memphis schoolteacher, becomes a reluctant farmer's wife when her husband, Henry decides to leave engineering and buy a farm she names Mudbound. Laura has difficulty adjusting to life without electricity or indoor plumbing and having to share space with her racist, misogynous father-in-law. An affair, a hate crime and a murder cause the innocent to suffer along with the wicked. Everyone is welcomed to attend the discussion. Call the branch library for more information (440-423-4808).
